Intensity-Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT): Central Nervous System Tumors

چکیده
When Policy Topic is covered Intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) may be considered medically necessary for the treatment of tumors of the central nervous system when the tumor is in close proximity to organs at risk (brain stem, spinal cord, cochlea and eye structures including optic nerve and chiasm, lens and retina) and 3-D CRT planning is not able to meet dose volume constraints for normal tissue tolerance. Immunotherapy of Nivolumab with Dendritic Cell Vaccination Is Effective against Intractable Recurrent Primary Central Nervous System Lymphoma: A Case Report
We report effective treatment with nivolumab of a patient with recurrent primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL) after multiple therapies. A 41-year-old woman with a right parietal PCNSL underwent treatment with high-dose methotrexate and radiotherapy. After recurrence in the left frontal lobe, the patient received several chemotherapies, including methotrexate and rituximab, and underw...
متن کاملStandard fractionation intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) of primary and recurrent glioblastoma multiforme
BACKGROUND Intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) affords unparalleled capacity to deliver conformal radiation doses to tumors in the central nervous system. However, to date, there are few reported outcomes from using IMRT, either alone or as a boost technique, for standard fractionation radiotherapy for glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). METHODS Forty-two patients were treated with IMRT a...
متن کاملComparison of dosimetric radiotherapy of whole left- breast cancer using conventional tangential wedge-based techniques (CTT) and three intensity modulation techniques (IMRT)
Introduction: Whole breast radiotherapy after breast-conserving surgery decrease the risk of local recurrence. this study investigates the dosimetric aspects of intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) compared to conventional tangential wedge-based beams techniques (CTT) of the whole breast in early stages breast cancer patients. Materials and Methods: Co...
متن کاملDose Distribution Analysis of Rapid Arc and Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy Plan in Head and Neck Cancer
Introduction: Globally, intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) is considered as highly precise and accurate method of radiotherapy planning. This technique amplifies spatial dose distribution conformity by modulating the intensity of radiation beams in each sub-volume. Additionally, it can reduces the dose to surrounding critical organs and deliver the planned dose to targets with the nom...

Background: The commissioning accuracy of Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT) need to be evaluated. Objective: To test and evaluate commissioning accuracy of VMAT based on the TG 119 protocols at local institution. Material and Methods: The phantom, structure sets, VMAT and IMRT beam parameter setup, dose prescriptions and planning objectives were following TG 119 guidelines to c...
